This was the busy opening day gathering of about three thousand happy campers and visitors to the long awaited for ‘summer season’. Every Sunday 9am-1pm the White Rock Farmers’ Market on Russell and Miramar Plaza is open for commerce and enjoyable entertainment for the curious.

Children , elderly, not so elderly but adults wishing to take a promenade and slowly stroll to buy vegetables, foods stuffs of all kinds; honey, soaps, jewelry and many products hand-made by the ‘natives’ ;meaning citizens and merchants of this extremely ‘old fashion’ style community.

Under the banner of ‘Heart Market White Rock’ which is a significant step to bring about awareness of how important and healthy lifestyles are the Farmers’ Market has made it its own ‘mission’ to promote ‘active living’ and to direct and indirect support all the organisations involved in the community of White Rock to service and educate to enable all people to maintain a desired level of physical and mental wellness and fitness profile..

A long history and management of this local farmer’s market has benefited from sensible and creative leadership and management..’everyone help each other and for a visitor it stands clear that the cozy and ‘pleasantly local’ atmosphere is contagious and lends itself to contemplation about ‘how the old days once were’. The friendliness is open and genuine.

Dogs, People and Produce….

Remarkably I see many well behaving dogs with their masters being part of the large crowd making every Sunday part of the routine for many. Potatoes, fresh fish from the boats, flowers and kitchen utensils parade in a never ending row of stands which each merchant pays for.

The opening of the market took place Sunday 27th May 2012. That’s when the season started this year. One would think that a location like the one Miramar Plaza offer anad cemented street landscape would render a cold and unfriendly atmosphere, but No not here!

Musical entertainment every Sunday and the many ‘exhibitionists, artists, service-minded professionals brings warmth to the area making 4 to 5 Sunday afternoon hours to a place to call your own ..no pressure sales people…only handy. creative, talented and entrepreneurial people find their place in this White Rock up-town farmer’s market for entertainment and commerce.

Kids and everyone have fun..laugh and have more fun..sing and dance… in White Rock…next stop after some hours by the Farmers’ market this Sunday is the obvious, the given one..to check out the seaside…..the walk down to the seaside of this summer vacation and all ’round mecca for relaxation…

And let’s not forget the eateries and first class restaurants one can find along the Marine Drive East and West..a day of delight and freedom..a Sunday to remember but not only for available ‘gelato’ ice cream and other goodies but for all the fashion focused merchants in their little stores, boutiques and shelves for commerce..the buy and sell is also here. But there is everything for everyone.

Regarding parking situation I recommend for you to park and keep your car uptown and take the convenient shuttle-van down the hill and up the hill back when you are finished with your Sunday and Farmer’s Market Day in White Rock. BC
